HANSAINVEST was founded in 1969 and acts as a service KVG for tangible assets and securities.
In these areas, we set up and manage label funds for initiators. In December 2020, the gross fund assets of the assets under management amounted to almost 47 billion euros in over 400 funds. In the financial assets area, we also administer the SIGNAL IDUNA Group’s mutual funds. Sister companies of HANSAINVEST are responsible for portfolio management and sales.
Through our subsidiary HANSAINVEST LUX SA , we have also been active in Luxembourg since 1988 and, thanks to this commitment, can also implement all those vehicles that cannot be implemented in Germany.
Even if HANSAINVEST as a medium-sized company has all the advantages in this regard, as part of the SIGNAL IDUNA Group it can benefit from the opportunities of one of the largest German insurance and financial services groups in Germany.
Hansa Capital Partners LLP is the Portfolio Manager for Hansa Investment Company Limited. Its Investment Team is headed by Alec Letchfield and William Salomon, both bringing a wealth of experience of the asset management world.
Alec Letchfield is a partner having joined Hansa Capital Partners as Chief Investment Officer in September 2013 from HSBC where, as CIO for Wealth and Multi-Asset, he was instrumental in the development of the multi-asset class offering for private clients for the HSBC Group. This highly diverse range of solutions generated excellent investment performance and industry leading asset growth. Previously he headed up the UK equity team, managing a range of high conviction portfolios.
William Salomon is the senior partner at Hansa Capital Partners and has extensive knowledge of all aspects of private client and strategic fund investment business.
William was responsible for developing Finsbury Asset Management and the Finsbury range of funds based on the concept of early recognition of key investment trends and appointing specialist managers until taken over in 1995 by Rea Brothers Group, the family’s bank, of which he eventually became Chairman until the bank was subsequently sold to Close Brothers. William is also Deputy Chairman of Ocean Wilsons Holdings Limited and its listed subsidiary Wilson Sons Limited and a Director of Hansa Investment Company Limited.
William, along with other Salomon family members, has a significant beneficial ownership in Hansa Investment Company Limited. This provides a great deal of stability to the Company and enables the Board and Investment Manager to take a longer term view of returns rather than ‘chasing the market’. Hansa Capital Partners looks for well managed companies with good growth prospects being fully aware that their underlying strategies may take time to come to fruition.
Our founding motivation. Social and environmental justice through investor action.
Kristian Nammack has worked in the capital markets since 1986 and is now focused exclusively on SRI, ESG, and impact investing.
In addition to his work with field-building through Hansa Impact, Kristian advises on sustainability through his firm Nordic Reach and is a Senior Fellow at the University of Virginia – researching the interplay of public policy, commerce, and innovation as relates to sustainability.
Kristian works with a broad spectrum of stakeholders including policymakers, fund managers, investors, and various cohorts at the University including professors and student interns. He points out that the correlation between return and impact can be positive if structured correctly.
Ultimately, Kristian sees a need to focus on investor-grade impact investing as it has evolved out of philanthropic impact investing among US foundations – in turn, a byproduct of mission-related investments.
Hansa Impact is an open initiative to share ideas, define best practice, and promote the concept of investor-grade impact investing.
